There is a difference between interest and commitment.
If you're interested in something, you only do it when it's convenient.
When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results.

Insanity

Insanity is a crazy exercise program that consists of intense 40-60 minute videos.  It is considered to be the hardest exercise program on DVD. I fully believe that.

This program lasts just over two months, with Fit Tests every two weeks. The Fit Test is to gauge how much your stamina and strength is increasing. You start with a handful of initial videos (with direction as to when to do what video) for the first month. After that first month, you do a week of recovery. Upon completing the recovery week, you head into the "Max" videos. These are the ones that separate the women from the girls.

Insanity was my head-first dive into becoming healthier and getting into great shape. I say "head-first" because I was not active prior to starting this program.  I had to modify the Fit Test on the first day because I couldn't even begin to do one of the moves. By the end of the program, I was able to do the move, however I continued doing it modified to keep with consistency.

Initial Fit Test:
  • Switch Kicks : 55
  • Power Jacks: 32
  • Power Knees: 47
  • Power Jumps: 25
  • Globe Jumps: 4
  • Suicide Jumps: 7
  • Push-up Jacks (modified to girl push-ups): 15
  • Low Plank Oblique: 10
Final Fit Test:
  • Switch Kicks: 90
  • Power Jacks: 45
  • Power Knees: 80
  • Power Jumps: 40
  • Globe Jumps: 9
  • Suicide Jumps: 13
  • Push-up Jacks (still modified): 35
  • Low Plank Oblique: 32
Look at those numbers!! I lost a total of 12.5 inches between my chest, waist, hips, both thighs, and both arms. Unfortunately (?), I gained about 6 pounds on this program. While I am positive that is muscle, it is still rather upsetting considering I worked so hard.  My biggest set-back? I didn't eat what I was supposed to. Rookie mistake, but at least I know for the future!

A first month workout
A "max" workout
I think it's pretty obvious that I earned my showers after completing Insanity each day.  Looking back, I wish I would have been better behaved in the kitchen. Hindsight is 20/20 though...

So proud of this t-shirt!
